Made-for-You Cookies - Frequently Asked Questions
How much advance notice is needed for Made-for-You cookies?
Cookies must to be ordered and paid for at least 10 days before the cookies are scheduled to be completed. For most orders, more advance time will be required, depending on schedule availability, the size and complexity of your order, whether special cookie cutters/supplies need to be ordered, etc. Orders placed less than 10 days before requested completion date are subject to a 20% rush fee.
How and when do I pay for my cookies?
A deposit will be required to hold a date on the calendar. All orders must be paid in full at least 10 days before the cookies are due. You will be able to pay via the Just Add Cookies website, using any major credit card, and/or you will receive an invoice that can be paid online or through Venmo. If the available payment methods do not work for you, please email [email protected].
Where and how do I get my cookies when they're completed?
All cookie orders can be picked up in Kent at the business home of Just Add Cookies, at the corner of Crain Ave and Miller Ave, unless otherwise arranged at the time of order. Pick-up dates will be scheduled at the time of order. If you want to reschedule your pick-up, please reach out to [email protected] to determine availability for a different date. A rush fee may be applied if the new date is earlier than originally scheduled. If you can't pick up your cookies as scheduled, they can be kept for up to one week. Cookies not picked up with one week of scheduled pick up date will be donated or re-sold.
How will my cookies be packaged?
I have a few different options for cookie packaging--ranging from basic heat-sealing for freshness, to more elaborate gift packaging. I am happy to work with you on options when we discuss the details of your order.
What if I change my mind after I order?
If you cancel 10 days or more in advance, a partial refund may be issued (minus the costs of any supplies that have been purchased specifically for your order). Please reach out by email to cancel---[email protected]. Within 10 days of the order due date, refunds can no longer be issued. Hand-decorated cookies take time to make and with less than 10 days notice, significant time and supplies will already have been invested in your order.
What if something comes up and I can't pick up my cookies on the scheduled date?
Please reach out to let me know, so that I don't worry about you! If you can't pick up your cookies as scheduled, they can be kept for up to one week. Cookies not picked up with one week of scheduled pick up date will be donated or re-sold.
Do the cookies have any allergens?
Yes, at this time all of my standard cookie recipes contain wheat, milk, and eggs. Some of the full ingredients lists are posted online for review before ordering. Cookies will be labeled as per Ohio Cottage Food laws. Keep in mind that these products are made in a home kitchen that is not nut-free, egg-free, dairy-free, or gluten-free. If you are interested in cookies made with alternative ingredients, please reach out and we can discuss!
How long will the cookies stay fresh?
Cookies sealed in their original packages will stay fresh for at least one week. To maximize freshness, keep your cookies in moderate, dry conditions—avoid direct sunlight, hot cars, and the fridge (the fridge will dry out your cookies). Cookies can also be frozen for at least three months, and will still be delicious and beautiful when thawed! Cookie Care and freezing instructions will be included with each order.
Will my cookies be exactly like the inspiration pictures and designs we discussed?
Nope! These are hand-decorated cookies, so there will always be at least small variations in the end products. I will do my very best to create cookies that you will love and that coordinate with your selected theme and colors. Any significant deviations from what we discussed will be clearly communicated, with opportunity to change your order, if desired.
